I was under my '90 runner today, and noticed an extra line connected to the rear axle housing. This is NOT a breather tube. It is approx 1/4" dia line connected to the top of the third member. Looks factory, definitely not an ARB air line. Anyone know what this might be?

If your Runner has ABS, the line your talking about is the Speed Sensor.
Toyota Third member.webp

That's the line.

Didn't realize they had hidden the speed sensor in the third member - actually makes more sense than putting them out at the wheels where they get the crap beaten out of them.

You 90 only has rear ABS. It's the most simplistic system, with a single channel. Not sure what year toyota switched over, but I swapped a 95 housing into my 91 and it had the pickups on the axles near the rear wheels. When I cracked the 95 housing and did a leaf swap on the runner, I used the 91 housing with the 95 axles, removing the ABS rings off the shafts. Works fine. In case you care :D
