This is on drivers side that goes from front of the roof rack forward then curves down to cover the windshield terminating at the cowl strip. It is loos at the area in the pictures. One picture is where it currently resides, the other picture when I press it down, and a third pic of it pulled up slightly. How do I get it to seat and stay that way as in the picture where my finger is depressing it. It almost appears there is adhesive on the end.

I have the same annoying trim! Hopefully someone has a fix

The last time the front window on my rig was changed out, that strip at the top started popping up. I used some type of silicon on the bottom of the strip, taped it down until the silicon dried, and good to go.

I might have to try that but some how out of the factory it didn't need to be glued down. If I am missing some clips or such I would rather try that. If not, silicon, weighted down and taped...here we come.

When new, that portion of the trimming seems to have double sided tape. Most windshield installers will reuse the trimming and use silicone adhesive to fasten it. If you wanted to use double sided tape again, you would probably want to remove the entire trimming which involves removing rivets. Careful not to deform the trim.

Either "ultra-gray" rtv, or 3M body tape will work. The guy who put in my second Toyota windshield advised me that the trick with that molding is to form it before installation so that it matches the angle where the A-pillar and roof line meet before it's riveted in place.

He spent about 10 minutes a side playing with the molding until it lined-up dead-nuts. He used 3M body tape.

I'll pick up some 3M part#03609. I have found over the years that when it comes to adhesives, cleaners and tapes, pay the extra for #M and you will be satisfied. I can see under there that someone in the past used some clear silicon in an attempt to fasten it. going to clean that our and try tape alone at about 75-80 degrees and let it sit all night with a heavy weight on it.

03609 fixed it right up. used two strips side by side and clamped it through the drivers window with woodworking clamps over night. Worekd perfect.

I too have this issue. I tried tape this winter, but it was too cold to set. Took it to a body shop to get some advice. He pointed out that a little black plastic tab had broken off and contributed to the problem. Going to try to retape when it gets warm enough for per the tape specs.
