Does anyone here have on their 100? And where did you get it?

My dipstick service guy told me Toyota doesn't offer one.

i'd substitute "tick" following "dips" with "hit"...

toyota and lexus offer extended warranties. they must be written prior to the expiration of the origianl factory waranty. we've got 49K miles on our LX and it's either going away or i'm going to pull the trigger on a 7/100. i've got quotes from several dealers with a huge variance in price.

i think that there's a source online for toyota warranties from a dealer in the midwest.

Toyota Platinum 7/75 for $895 (or close to that) on a new 06. You can purchase this from any dealer. Call Molle Toyota in Kansas City (816) 942-5200

I would be curious to see if they would give you the same deal if you didn't purchase the vehicle new there. At that price, they are still making money.

Try AAA.com, or this link http://www.aaa.com/aaa/240/sne/automotive/warranty2.html

It offers very reasonable price and terms At least they are financial stable, you don't need to worry them file bankruptcy within a few years.:D

i punched in the info for a quote on our 02 LX. it came back $1950. 6 years/100K miles. i've got two dealers down to the $2200 range for a 7/100 factory warranty. maybe they're competitve for other vehicles but it's not even close on the LX. plus they specifically exclude the touch screen and stereo repairs over $300. the stereo has been the #1 warranty repair item for us with the LX.

strangely enough, I never buy extended warranties after having read some about the concept in Consumer Reports and the like.
However, we got a really good deal on one for the 100 and it's already paid for itself.

I got an extended warrenty from the dealer I bought the truck from. It has almost paid for itself in the last 6 months we have owned the vehicle. The warrenty is from a company in Los Angeles.

Normally I would not buy an extended warrenty, but in this case I went with my gut and bought it. IIRC I paid around $1500 for it.

Like I said above I shy away from them normally, but I am glad I got this one, cause some of those repairs have been costly, and all I had to pay was my $50 deductible.

Make sure any warranty you get from a dealer is from Toyota Financial Services or Lexus Financial Services. I have seen several dealers offering a look alike "Platinum" or "Gold" extended warranty but it is not underwritten by TFS/LFS. Those alternative dealer warranties look like Toyota warranties but are NOT the same. It is better to pass on them and buy a TFS/LFS extended warrany from another source.

Right you are LXPearl.

Mine is not from Toyota, I was unaware of the difference at the time of purchase. But so far they have been very good with any claims I have had.

but in the future I would make sure it is from Toyota/Lexus.

Extended warrantee

We bought our '00 LC from the dealer with 31k, CPO lease return & the dealer suckered us into a 100k/6-year supposed "bumper-to-bumper" Toyota Financial Services warrantee for $400, & they balked on almost every claim. Found out after the fact that the 6-disk CD player is excluded, starter contacts not covered. The only thing they covered was a glitch in the ABS alarm but the $50 deductible exceeded the actual cost of $48 to have it fixed. It just expired this month both on time and mileage, so decided to do my own repairs. For me, the warrantee wasn't worth it and soured me on the dealer and warrantees in general, and aside from the std. new car warrantee, I'd never buy another one. If they want to throw one in for free to make a sale, I'd consider it but it pisses me off to have to check with the service manager for every little item, only for them to tell me it's excluded by some obscure loophole. I'd rather just pay my own way so I don't have to deal with those :censor: .

My $.02

I have the Mechanical Protection Plan (MPP) 84 months , 100,000 miles.
I think it cost 2K when I bought it. Its sold through the Toyota dealers.
It paid for my new diff and axle :)

Donco, yes those used car salesmen will say almost anything for a sale. The Toyota web site gives the full info on Mechanical, Gold, and Platinum warranties on either the new, certified, or used vehicles. They give pricing for new cars and the difference between a $50 deductible and $0 deductible is only $50 up front. For a new LC, Platinum 6yr/100K, $0 ded, is $1800 and Gold is $1525. As has been mentioned, there is a lot of margin in those numbers. Yet, dealers seem to offer the $50 ded Gold plan to new buyers at higher pricing than TFS list. They call the Gold plan a "bumper to bumper" plan, maybe an upgrade to the mechanical base plan. The Gold plan leaves a lot out - especially electrical stuff. One must read the print rather than go by the salesman's words. I am surprised they challenged covered claims - it might have been worth stopping by a different dealer or contacting TFS. I share your skepticism on the warranties - I appreciate straight shooting salesmen, and Toyota has not been known for the best dealership customer service. I have found Lexus better in that regard. I would think the Toyota salesmen would know the info is on the web and provide real customer service. There are some like that - usually in the internet department.
