Just purchased a 1991 FJ80 that has been lifted 5" with slee components. It appears to still have the stock brake lines on it. The rear looks like it would be okay, but the front definately makes me concerned about flexing it any.

I'm not new to the Cruiser scene so I searched and visited various vendor sites but it seems that the only extended lines offered are for 1993 + FZJ80's.

I searched here on MUD and could only find a recommendation to go to NAPA and look in their catalog for longer lines with the correct fittings. A poster asked for the P/N's in that thread but they were never posted.

What have you done for extended brake lines on a 1991 FJ80? Any information or specific part numbers would be appreciated.

WELCOME!

Dan Kunz will embrace you fully!

Many have done that here on the 4 wheel discs -- they'll chime in --

-- another 3FE outlasting the bunch -- :)

Thanks, Eric:

I'm pretty excited about it - now I have two Cruisers and with my girlfriend's Tundra we are completely Toyota at our house.

The motor is indeed running well. Compression is a bit low at 120-125, but is even across the cylinders. Definately a good platform to start work on.

Eric,

Depending on where you live you might have a local place that will make you some custom brake lines and use your fittings.

Granted this was for an FZJ80, but when was at Koffer's the other day, he was looking at a brake line that was perfect for the fronts. Think it was for a 4skinner originally. Since I don't have an FJ80, I don't know if there are differences or not, but I'd imagine that some other Toyota has ones that would work.

sounds like I need to make friends with the guy behind the NAPA counter.

Where to start? Ask for a 4-Runner hose, take outside and see if the fittings are correct and then work on finding one long enough? Sounds reasonable to me.

Is it just me or are a lot of the '80 products only for the 93 and up models? That's it. I'm going to be the underdog and when I grow up, I'll show you all how it's done!

Thanks, Junk:

I'll be checking into this over the weekend. What ever happens, I'll post some part numbers for others in the same boat.

Where did you pick up the truck...just wondering if it used to belong to a board member.

Got it in Ocala, FL. Owner previous to that was in Orlando. Has a 5" lift that has slee springs and OME shocks - the rest looks to be homebrew, but done pretty well I think.

TTT

C'mon. Somebody must have sourced some extended brake lines for their early FJ80!

Boy - timing is everything. I just got a response from Christo Slee too - he has the kit as well. I will probably go with him since he has some other goodies that I want too!

Thanks everybody - and thank you to our vendors as well.

Now that Im back I will get you the # for the brake hose .
What there is for the 91/ 92 is there is only one hose for each axle .
the newer trucks (ABS) has 2 hoses from axle to frame on the front and one in the rear . The hose I showed junk was the the one for the 93 and newer pass side
the 91 through97 drivers side front and the one for the rear axle are the same .
I'll get part #s tonight hopefully .

Thanks, Todd:

I thought Christo's reply was a little unusual - he says they have the kit for the 1991 model and that it is 3 hoses too. The 3rd hose is what was getting me. My 1991 doesn't have ABS so that is the difference. I only need the 2 that drop down to the axles. I emailed him about that, so I'll wait to see what he says. I'd still like to see what you come up with too.

Thanks for looking!

This year had over 20k and most were dressed on costume

So I took the truck anyhow after the cruiser :princess: called and was told 6'8" Then I let them park it so if it got Fawked they had to pay :flipoff2:

Heading down your way in the am to go see those guys about the rest of the system. Cut out the rear old sensor fitting, so hopefully they can make it work.
