Experience with marine vinyl as headliner upgrade

Does anybody have any experience swapping out the headliner fabric for a Marine vinyl to help with cleanup and overall durability? I'm not as concerned about the actual installation process as I am how it will perform. Any thoughts? Running a 1996 FZJ.

Are you putting the sound deadener on the floors? How does the dyna mat effect the thickness of the carpet?
