Expected MPG on FJ60 w/ 5 speed, other addons?

I ran a stock carb, MAF 6-1 headers and no smog equip on an 84 fj60. Heavily loaded w/ 31s we usually got around 14-15mpg. I think that the key is tuning properly and taking it easy on the acceleration.

Having said that, I don't think I would do a header again unless the exhaust manifold were cracked... in which case it costs about the same to go headers vs. stock and you might get a little bit of top-end increase in power w/ the headers. Maybe. Certainly it makes for a nicer exhaust note.

*we did pull the cat when the headers went on. that might have helped with mileage, but probably didn't help much with emissions.

I just picked up my 87 FJ60 from Jim Dickey down in Gardena, CA.
Before dropping it off with Jim I had the engine rebuilt, had the carb rebuilt by Jim C., new wires, new H55, new radiator and hoses. Plus a few more things.

Jim Dickey tuned my engine, idle and carb and a few more things that needed tuned or fixed.

If I remember correctly I was getting about 12 mpg before the rebuild. Now I'm looking forward to getting a few more mpg.
I'll keep you guys posted. I'll be happy if I can get 15 to 17 mpg.
