Anybody recommend a muffler/exhaust specialist they have been happy with in Victoria. Thought I would would ask first, rather than blunder into any old shop and take my chances.

I've had good luck with budget ( I used to know the guy running it and got great deals) also I have a buddy who does all of my exaust work now for cheep (or beer in my case... )

Last time I went to budget I had custom exhaust from the manifold back put in with a new muffler (that I supplied) total cost from manifold to tail pipe was 45 bucks... Too bad I don't know anyone working there anymore. But they did do a good job...

The guy up at mill bay muffler are great guys to deal with as well, father son buisness. i got my exhaust done there when i put the 2F into my truck, in my dealings i think they have been very fair with their pricing and iv gone back a few times over the years for various trucks....dont know the number offhand tho, could get it to you if you wanted

I'm sure that Mill bay muffler does good work, but I've had a terrible time dealing with the owner. What do you need done Glen? If you have a MIG welder and an angle grinder you can make your own system for less than $100. I recently built my own if you want to have a look (I'd be happy to build it for you as well).

i dont know what happened with ken or the circumstances of any of that...but i wouldnt send somebody to a shop that i wouldnt feel 100% comfortable leaving my truck at and i have left several of my trucks there for them to work on...so make of it what you will

If your staying stock it is better go with the yota one. It Works well and john can get them but if you are going for bigger or custom it will cost no matter where you go only thing you can really save on is labour cost by doing it yourself.

Log Cabin at the corner of Keating and West Saanich built mine... In 1996 it cost me +/- $450 for a complete dual exhaust system for my 350 fj40. They've since been bought out by Midas but the staff stayed on.

That's the last exhaust that I had built.

Thanks for the replies.

Glenn, are you going custom, or stock? Rob M from the coastal cruisers has a stock set up he wants to sell...

Nothing big - I simply wanted to experiment by removing my muffler and seeing what performance I might see. If too noisy I would put it back on. Another BJ74 owner put in a 3" exhaust system, although a few 2 1/2" crips and here is what he reported.

Major Improvement in low RPM spool-up 850 to 1200 rpm (can hear the CT26 spool up internally) low speed and top speed acceleration increased with much lower EGTs.

Lower EGTs on the hills is what I would like to see.
