So I have noticed that Ken Hanna's Bumper requires removal of the coffee can and am 80% sure that I will end up removing this for my own bumper design. Question is how does a FZJ sound with this removed. I know that this has been covered before but thought I'd get some updated opinnions especially since this is now a common thing with Ken's bumpers around. Does the whistling sound increase? Some people think I have super charger already with the whistling. Any other issues? Cheers Snow

You might get a whistling noise that might or might not be annoying to you.

You may also get an annoying resonance somewhere around 2000 rpm. When I replaced my exhaust I left it out and it has a drone at ~2100 rpm. Not a big deal if you drive faster or slower than 57 mph but around town it's annoying.

I removed it to do a dual battery install. It's my wife's car - she is pretty observant, but didn't notice anything different...of course, she likes the stereo up loud...

It's a small difference. Smaller than changing to mud tires.

???????????

Uh... yo ski... why would you remove that to do a dual battery install??? am I missing something?

Just guessing but maybe he ran the tailer harness off of the second batt and wanted more room for the harness to come out of the passenger side? Just a guess.

????again....

the piece being described is that can thing on the exhaust pipe... right before the tip...(end)... so how does that have anything to do w/ dual batt's under the hood???? Am I still missing somethig?... or ....

OK, it was late, and I was tired...maybe I missed the word "exhaust"...There is a resonator attached to the air filter housing, and that's what I removed...

Sheesh - you'd think after all these years reading comprehension wouldn't be a problem...
