MileHi
About to invest in a 2nd 60 since the rust on mine is beyond repair. Found a 60 with a MAF high perf engine. Guy started it up, an reved it so I could hear it an I noticed it sprayed a bit of oil out of exhaust. Drove it, and it has plenty of power..at least twice my balanced 2f has. From the way it responded to throttle there are no compression issues.....and it doesn't smoke at all..so it is not burning any oil. My 2f as it stands w/a tune up and valve job still smokes a little. What advice and or experience with this can you guys give me?

Was it oil or a soot-water mix? Oil would give you blue smoke, a bit of black crap dripping off the tailpipe or spattering on start up is likely just condensation and carbon.

It was oil. It sprayed a little on the street when he reved it to redline. It didnt smoke at all....nothing????

maybe it was soot water mix...but it put a light spray on the street. but when i smelled it....no smell of oil????

If you are concerned about it, before you take it for a test drive, get some to spray on a piece of paper, and let it dry while you are testing it out. If it dries and leaves dry spatter on the paper, I don't think it's anything to worry about. If it stays damp, then maybe it is oil, but I can't see how you can get oil in the exhaust without burning it. See if it goes away after the truck runs and warms up too. How do the plugs look?

mine is the same, have an irritating neighbor with a white car and I try to park as often as I can next to him for the morning start up, It's more noticeable in winter

thanks for the help by the way:)

I didnt ask him if i could look at the plugs. It just rode so strongly...i assumed it was just cold. But then the wife got me thinkin. Dunno, if it were rings..wouldnt it be blowing some smoke with the oil...and wouldnt low compression accompany this?

Guy said he stands behind the engine, and that the rig is very reliable. Just needs cosmetic and tranny stuff he cant afford...wife and baby take all his money.

Mine has the soot/water spray - at least for a short while after start up. I don't know how oil would get all the way past the tailpipe. The only to the exhaust is through the combustion chambers. That's why you get smoke. If liquid oil somehow survived the combustion process, it would have to go through a 1200 degree cat (if equipped). Then, it would need to be pushed all the way out the pipe by the exhaust.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen - I just can't imagine how.

I agree with this. My cruiser does the same thing, I freaked out when I first saw it, but its just water. However it will stain your driveway.

This puts my mind at ease. Thanks for the expertise comrads!

Drill a really small hole in the bottom of your muffler....so the condensation will not be so bad and sounds like the motor needs a tune up:D
