exhaust manifold stud removal

How do you remove these? The replacement part # shows them with an external torx head but these are round. I'm hoping to not drill them out

How much thread is there on the other side?

You can double nut the stud and use heat on the back side to break it loose.

If the stud is totally gone, bring the manifold to a welder and get a nut welded onto the broken stud and turn it out quickly using he heat of the weld to your advantage.

I agree, cut them off with a plasma or oxy/acetylene and then vise grips, or weld a nut on and spin them out. Works like a hot damn.

Thanks, after about 6 hours on this, I am calling uncle and alleviating my frustrations and taking it to a shop. It's snowballed and I'd rather throw some Benjis at it.
