Exhaust/Manifold Crack and Leak - Any Potential Damage? How Urgent to Fix? (1 Viewer)

I just replaced the 02 sensors but there is a crack in my exhaust manifold and guessing that’s why the P0240 code came back on a couple days later. The thing I’m worried about is I replace the passenger side manifold that has the leak, and then the code fires off again to find out the catalytic converter has gone bad too. I’m headed to CO soon and trying to decide if this is a fix that needs done before the trip or if it can wait until I get back. I read about the spark plug issue throwing the same P0240 code possibly as well, but I hadn’t even thought of that until I read this thread.

Any other thoughts or advice appreciated!

Just did my driver’s side. You can see the crack in the picture. I did not have a CEL. Just got tired of the tick, tick, tick at startup.

How long did the job take you for driver's side? Summoning up the courage to do the same over here...
5 hours. I did not think it was that bad. Make it easy on yourself by purchasing all new hardware for the shield, manifold, manifold flange and the 2 bolts for the Intermediate connection, including replacement gaskets. Remove the nuts and bolts to the transmission and engine mounts and Jack the side up that you are working on and place a chunk of 2x4 in between the mount.

I suggest purchasing a deep and standard 3/8 drive Matco Non Slip 14mm socket (Watch OTRAM’s YouTube video). They were the “MVP” of this project for me.

You will need a variety of extensions lengths along with a swivel. I was expecting it to be way worse than it was. Good luck and reach out if you have any questions.
