Does anyone have a suggestion on a complete exhaust from header to tailpipe?
I know this is gonna cost some dough. Cats are quite expensive. would appreciate any thoughts.thanks..

Go OEM and your guaranteed for the life of the mufflers...free replacement on the whole she-bang--anywhere in the country.

Just got my cat-backs done and it was a good deal, all things considered with this vehicles.

THough I know others have made their own, or had aftermarket ones.

[ps: there is a post about this about a month or so back--I think Mark (mabrodis) started it]

Best.

Hey nice avatar *beno....we want phil...
Ive seen him a few times(107 w/GD...20 or so PF&F) nice to see a head on here

thanks for info

Thanks Lovey...Phil's a fav. of mine and I'm pretty much convinced he kept the GD going in the final years (ie: propping Jerry up!).

In any event, I don't get many chances to see live music anymore; don't particularly like the big crowds (read: paranoia!!).

There are other heads on the board too...you'll see them pop up here and there (off the top of my head: concretejungle).

Back on topic: the OEM muffler, cats. and the like will be very $$$$$$$$ but I think worth considering they are guaranteed.

Off topic: where in N. Jersey are you?

I want to do OEM but its gonna hurt wallet..
I'm in Kinnelon.

Lovey - Why are you planning the replacement?

rusted out exhaust......

I'm in Kinnelon

Right on...that's a bit north of where I was at for many years--Clifton.

I'll be in the Paramus for three days Dec. 16-18th...if you wanna get together for a piece of cheese pizza at famous Paulie's RT. 3 westbound right before you hit the RT. 46/Rt.3 hell-hole combination...we can check out rigs and the like.

Drop a PM if you're interested....

Best.

OEM will not be spendy, for under $150 you get a OEM muffler and pipe installed with a lifetime warantee.

I just picked up a OEM muffler and pipe for my 82 fj40, parts cost me under $100, install is less than $50, must be installed at dealer for lifetime warantee.

i got mine for $700 on my '91 -- pipes, 2 cats, flowmaster, coffee-can, and an outdoor lift with a lot of swearing by a guy who didn't use a welding mask --

-- priceless --

-- got it done last dec 31st in fla -- when the guy got his work-order, he said, "well, happy f&cking new years to me" --

Thanks landpimp....this is for an 80...and im gonna be needing both cats..possibly header pipe. and rest to tailpipe....I wish $150 would get me all that...those cats go upwards of 250 a piece. OUCH.....

the 40 needs exhuast to but im in no hurry on that one. 80 is my DD.

OEm down pipes, cats, O2's, y pipe, tail pipe and muff... 3500 dealer installed :flipoff2: No f'in way. Went on line and got it all for under 600. I love OEM but give me some credit please.

I had a local exhaust shop bend up from the back of the cat rearward (new muffler, etc, all new stuff all the way back) and it was $325. It would have been alot cheaper except I had them run the pipe over the frame, which took some time/effort (although not sure how much cheaper they really would have done it for even without that).

Your '94 is a different setup than my '97, if you need new downpipes from the engine then I guess you could have a shop weld onto what you have (assuming there is some good metal there) instead of buying a whole exhaust manifold also. Cats online are not that expensive, but the '94 has two little ones, might be hard to find ones that small, after that it's all just pipe bending. The two small pipes the '94 has would be a trouble for most shops I think. The one I was at had dies to bend 2"-3", but those little pipes on the '94 are smaller than 2", so that could be a problem.

Good Luck..

I bet you could get a whole exhaust from a salvage yard. Are you sure you need all new from the exhaust manifolds back? You can get new high flow cat's on the net cheaper than new OEM, and get a local shop to do the rest. Some have installed Borla's but I don't know if they're as good as they advertise. Check with some shops in the area and find someone that knows how to do really good quality custom exhaust. Depending on where you live stainless might be worth the added expense. People tend to have a lot of diferent taste when it comes to mufflers, tone, and loudness. When on the road, I want it as quiet as possible, and the older I get the less muffler roar I want to hear. I highly recommend you do a search on this topic. There's some good tips that might not get repeated.

yeah thats a bit more than a muffler :)

if it makes you feel better the cats for a 92 are $1000 EACH for OEM..........(not like I would go OEM on a cat)

www.kansascityconverters.com sells rebuilt oem cats with supposedly original loads of precious metals. Other than that if you live in an emission testing state be aware an aftermarket cat system may give you a headache right out of the gate and likely will not last as long as OEM

thanks all....input appreciated and will be put to use.
