I've been just reading on this forum since I bought my 2005 GX470 non-KDSS on Thanksgiving weekend. So much good information here and supportive, friendly advice. Hope to participate in this great community.
Finally I have some worthy pictures to post from our trip to the eastern sierras over New Years (just before snowpocalyse in the sierra). The rig spent most of its life (165K) driven by a soccer mom who took care of it meticulously, all work done at dealer with all records updated on drivers.lexus.com.
Timing belt changed at 100K. Air suspension still fully operational.
Only things I found wrong: ripped left CV boot , Hood gas struts weak, rear right door lock actuator, drive axle/transfer case seal small leak, rear shock leak. Did the CV and the hood struts. I had most fluids changed and a safety checked....and it's good to good for awhile. Everything else can wait as I plan to add a lift anyway.
I plan to build this vehicle into my regular expedition camping vehicle, no rock-crawling or Rubicon, just forest service campgrounds, most forest service roads, most roads in death valley and desert. I plan to take it slow and build up slowly.
First additions (to take care of most common on/off-road problems and for camping)
