I am in PC...If you are up in the area; would be happy for you to try that plastic POS on my undercarriage. Maybe it will help??? Sorry for your troubles!

At the local Toyota dealer. Looks like I'm not eligible for a free crossmember damper due to year and mileage lol. It's only $259.xx and would be here Thursday if I order it now  I think I'll pass on this one haha

Let me check my garage. I think I have mine because I used it as a door prop in the past. If I find it you can have it if you cover shipping.

Thanks again everyone. I'll keep you posted mpho I appreciate the offer. And let me know what you find out bamachem that would be awesome!

Is it RPM related? Or does it increase with tire speed?

This^^^, does the rate of boom change with engine speed, road speed, or neither?

I had a similar noise years ago that was caused by my plastic sunroof deflector and my expo rack. Apparently the wind was howling between the cross bar of the rack and the deflector. Removed it and the sound disappeared. It was so loud I thought it was a wheel bearing.

Sorry I kinda fell off the face of the earth for awhile. Again thanks for the help everyone. The more I drive this car lately the more I'm starting to get frustrated with it. On my last outing I actually pulled over a few times to clear my head. It hasn't gotten worse but it's to the point it bothers me so much just driving to the store is irritating.

Some things I found.

-engine RPM's, braking, neutral coasting etc. do not influence the noise. It does seem worse at 68mph on the freeway but the noise never goes away unless I'm driving really slow or if I'm parked.
-Dirt roads the noise is constant.
-Poor paved roads (like the one I live on) the noise is also constant but not as bad as dirt roads.
-Some sections of freeway are better than others.
-Washboards are insane.
-My sliders were rubbing on the body as it turns out. I removed them the noise did not change.

I really starting to think it is suspension related and I've talked myself into thinking it is the front end. All the rod ends and ball joints seem fine as do all the bushings. Anyone have a diagram of the torsion bar mounts on the frame? They seem to rest metal on metal unless I'm looking at it wrong.... One of the bolts is nearly maxed out and I spent the time to set the rake properly (not lifted too high in the front). I'm out of ideas.

Could a worn steering rack make this noise? I was thinking maybe I had a sagging door but those seem fine. Tomorrow I'm going to pull off the say bars to see if that helps.

A soft booom boom boooooommmmm boooommmm bom bom boommmm :bang: I need a beer

Any way you could capture the sound and post it for us to hear? (youtube or similar)

Have you had a look at the front diff mounts? (just because it's another piece of heavy metal on compliant rubber mounts)

The T-bars are metal on metal but there is no motion there. It usually would take a lot of suspension motion to get any sounds from the T-Bars.

Checked out the rear wheel bearings real well?

Any change with all the diffs locked up?

Your noise is starting to get to me now to, lets figure this out!

My current noise is from my worn out quarter window motor, quite a lot of racket from those windows when they get loose...

How about all the rubber on the lift gate and tail gate? Try driving with the lift gate up a little maybe.

Same with your hood, is it resting on the adjustable rubber stoppers and not bouncing against the latch?

I would love to hear a recording. Good luck!

Front torsion bars DO rest metal on metal, but it's a thin cross-section of the t-bar holder that makes contact, and it's the same for every 100 series out there.

Now I'm starting to get somewhere!!! :bounce: but first thanks guys and good info on the torsion bars.

AimCOtaco, I tried taking a few recordings on my phone and even placing it in different areas I can't seem to capture anything :( Probably need something better than an IPhone.

The rear wheel bearings feel fine but I'm assuming they are original.. I should probably change those out soon just to be safe if nothing else given the mileage.

The diff mount on the drivers side has seen better days. It's not blown by any means but it is a bit droopy.. I removed it and drove around (probably not the smartest idea) but saw no change.

Good call on the hood and end gate. I will check both close tomorrow morning.

No change locked up, center diff only, low and high range.. All the same.

Here's some good news: I tried a different method of checking my shock bushings. I crawled under the car and did some bench pressing with the bumpers lol. Watching the front I noticed the passenger side shock was a little loose on the bolt. Turns out the bolt was worn a bit so I replaced it. I did the same with the rear and found slight movement in both of the lower rear shock bushings. I didn't have any new bushings on hand so I wrapped the old ones with electrical tape and pressed them back into the shock. Temporary fix but tight for now.....

Overall the noise is still there but tightening up the shocks made a very noticeable improvement. I'm going to order new shock bushings as soon as the holidays are over. For the first time since purchase there's times on a good road when the noise seems to go away completely. I'm super happy right now. Thanks again everyone :D

Good job Rot, sounds like you're well on your way! It's frustrating but the more challenging the problem the more rewarding it is to fix it yourself.

Hang in there rot. You have a great truck. If you can nail the issue it will be an awesome truck. The mud peeps seem to be cool about helping you sort it out. I have a noise/vibration too that gets worse the faster I go. Hit 100 mph yesterday and it was stinking loud. But I have no idea what it is, have tried everything to get rid of it except wheel bearings which I've checked and don't seem to be the issue. So I'm just driving it and waiting for something to explode. Nothing else I can do :-/
