I've read up about 'em, any first hand experience? I know about the trannys and 24v timing chain weakness, saw some mention of AC troubles. Are they difficult to work on, especially the way the engine bay is? I have some experience with German cars (E34 BMW), and found it was very easy to work on it for routine stuff. Probably looking at a 99-01 GLS, since they are cheaper than the MV or the 02+, and I think the power will be more than adequate for us. Any thoughts?

I drove one for a while in Brazil, but it was a diesel. Cargo style and super reliable. No knowledge about the US models, except I LOVE the westy style.
