I've had an annoying clank/popping sound in certain circumstances when I brake (e.g., only happens after I've been driving for a while and everything is warmed up) and sometimes when I make a u-turn first thing in the morning (stuff is not warm, but not too cold either as I live in Southern CA). I've posted about this a couple of times, but no one seemed to experience the same noises (people get lot's of other noises though).
Based on a couple of recent threads here (mainly the alignment/binding noise one and the purpose of this brake clip one), I think I'm going to pay the dealer to inspect my brakes and my suspension.
For the brakes, I want to ensure that they include in their inspection, looking at/for: anti-rattle springs/plate, pad retainer pin and related springs and necessary shims (in addition to what they'd normally look at).
For the suspension I want to ensure that they include their inspection looking at: sway bars and control arms (in addition to stuff they'd normally look at).
Is there anything else for either the suspension or the brakes that I should list? My sense is, unless I list it, they won't know to look for it and they'll just to a very cursory inspection. Thus, I'd rather list more stuff rather than less.
Also, how much mechanic's time should an inspection of the type I describe above take. I'd like to know if this is something that would take just an hour or two or if it's something more involved.
Thanks in advance!
