Dear all,

I have an idea... why can't we use Diesel Engine Vacuum to power our brake cylinder. instead of using the vacuum from the pump of the alternator.

The alternator with pump used sell for arund 600 CAD. and a new one cost a fortune..

I think it can be done just like in a gas engine, by engine vaccum powered brakes.

What do you guys think? As we can add an vaccum hose off the engine intake manifold and tap it into the brake master?

Any suggestion would be great.

cheers

Not enough vacuum available in a diesel, thats why the pump is there in the first place. 3B's are unusual in that they have more "suck" than most due to their vacuum governor and its butterfly valve, but its not enough to use for the booster.

dear,

Thanks for the infomation, but i will still try it out to see... let you guys know if it works.

cheers

Do you really think every diesel manufacturer in the world puts vaccuum pumps on their diesels for the fun of it:confused:

If you go ahead with it,dont get all over confident because it pulls the vehicle up at 10 mph once.
The vac system is designed to keep the brakes working through twisty hilly areas where the brakes are in almost constant use.

And please, test it where only your neck is on the chopping block

there are few mitsu and hyundai galloper alt from 200 to 300 bucks with vacc pumps attached .. or you can source an electric vacc pump from summit.
