Hi All,

I bought the 78 Engine/trans/transfer from tfdcruiser (from his 78 piggy) and I'd like to get it installed in my 40. However I need some help as I don't have an engine hoist, and would like to get this done in a reasonable time (I work stupid hours and have little time) and I'm not beneath begging for or bribing for help.

So here's the deal: A party at my house in Fountain Hills. Lots and lots of   and burgers and pizza and ice cream... Bring the mini-CSC members and they can play Playstation on my 42" Sony :D and the adults can help me wrench. The plan would be to get the old engine combo pulled, install the new one along with a new fuel tank and clutch. The fuel tank swap means the rollcage will need to be removed and reinstalled (easy but heavy).

I can get a lot of the pre-work done (driveshafts pulled, front clip removed, etc). Of course all needed or suspected needed parts will also be acquired so as to minimize the :o quotient...

I have air tools (3/8 ratchet and 1/2 impact) and lots of other tools.

tfdcruiser isn't back from wherever until later this month so I can't even get the engine until Oct 19,21,23,25,30...

So I'm asking WAY in advance.

Thanks,
Marc

weekend of the 19th thru 23 I'm wheeling with Alvin in NV. But keep posting, I'm bribeable.

Just do what I did.. pull everything now, that way when you have what you need, you can just drop it in. This also give you time to clean everything up while you wait. It will take a lot longer to install than it will to remove. Just a thought.

Providing I'm not wheeling. (shuddup Kevin. I do wheel from time to time. :flipoff2: )

Yep, I was there the day when you wheeled, even took a picture!:flipoff2:

I am going to be in New York until the 12th but the next week end I am heading to the Pomona Swap meet I may be able to bring the motor up to you which could save you some time. I would have to work it out with the person I am going to Pomona with and we may be leaving very early in the morning (sat) or late Friday night. Obviously you wouldn't be able to hear the motor run but I sold the steering column and we would have to figure out how to hot wire it but I did give you the compression numbers anyways, Let me know if that would be helpful and I will try to make it happen on our way to Pomona.

Sure let me know. I need a few days in advance to make room and acquire a hoist.

Marc,

I have a hoist you're more than welcome to borrow. It folds up pretty nice and would be no problem to fit in any pickup bed.

LMK when you wanna come grab it.

So what you're sayin is you don't wheel anymore?

Oooh maybe what the FJ Cruiser should have been?

The sad fact is that you're right. If toyota had released THAT instead of the FJ... There'd already be one in my driveway. Where'd ya find that chop?
