Hi Guys,

Took the 100 in cos had engine light trouble. They said it was a P0133 OXY code and cleared it - but said that it was due to my LPG conversion and that wasn't their business.

The light was there whether running on petrol for days or LPG.

Suppose I'll pop the car along to the LPG fitter but he of course doesn't have access to 'Yota's diagnostics ...

Any clues on how important this was/is and what I should do if anything?

Thanks all,
Sword

According to this site: http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troubleshooting/l/bl_obd_1.htm

P0133 is an O2 sensor code for Slow Response.

I'm no expert, but it could be you need a new O2 sensor, or maybe it could be cleaned?

If the LPG fitter has extensive experience doing automotive conversions, they may have seen this before. If not, I'd go to an independent, trusted shop to see what they say, and go from there.

Good luck,

From a 1998 FSM

P0133 - Heated Oxygen Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 1 Sensor 1) - Response time for the heated oxygen sensor's voltage output to change from rich to lean, or from lean to rich, is 1.1 sec. or more during idling after the engine is warmed up (2 trip logic).

Bank one is the bank with cylinder #1 in it. Sensor #1 is the sensor closer to the engine body. (left side exhaust behind cats)

The FSM (DI-52) asks if there are any other codes being output? If not it says to replace the sensor.

The lean/rich connection does sound like it could be LPG conversion related but if it trips when running gas as well I would replace the sensor.
