Read a lot of pros and cons about the flush on the board and took the plunge. I was adding some Sea Foam to my sons 80 and stuck my finger into the fill hole (did that sound right) and came out with a ton of sludg. I was a bit suprised since the PO had used Mobile1 the entire life of the truck. I used the SF and let that work for a week and then added a quart of Pyrole engine flush. I checked the oil color before the SF and it was nice and clear even after 2000 miles. After the SF it had a lot of particulant floating in it and had changed to a dark Maple color. Adding the Ptrol and letting the engine run for 10 mins was the clincher. In changing the oil the color was black and very thin due to the Pyrol. When I say black, man, it was so dark. The oil I spilled on the floor was totally opaque so I couldn't see the concreet throug it. I ran my fingers through the old oil and felt no substancial particles which made me feel better and there were no lumps just black oil. I put in new cheep oil and a good filter till this Sat when I will change oil again and put in the Napa Gold filter. Oil preasure went up a bit and the old girl is running a bit smoother with less valve clatter. Might as well do a tune up this weekend as well and see if that makes a drag racer out of her. Again, thanks for the help and input from your postings.
