I am trying to get a few engine ECUs for different year Land Cruisers and LX 470s to virginize and keep on hand.

I am trying to have at least one computer box for years 1998-2002.

I have been watching ebay and have bought a couple for the 98.

I am seeing a few different part numbers for years 1999-2000 and 2001-2002.

What I am asking for is the year, make and part number of your ECU.

If you feel like looking I would really appreciate it.

My goal is to be able to offer replacement virginized ECUs at a reasonable price. Not trying to make any money, just make it a little less expensive for people to replace fried computers, or for those that only have a valet key.

Thank you

I'll start

1998 LX470
ECU part# 89661-60610

2005 Lexus LX470
The vehicle options this part fits:
Production Date: 07/2004-05/2005
Fitting Vehicle Options: UZJ100
Lexus Part No.: 89661-60C41
COMPUTER, ENGINE CONTROL

(Yes, it is 2005, but hey those trucks need loving too. :D)

2001 LX.

(Thanks again for mailing me that chip)

I can check my 2001 LC part number if you need for comparison. :)

You're welcome. I dont think anybody has installed one yet.

Your Land Cruiser should have the same part.

When I was looking for my 2002 Land Cruiser, I found these compatible ECU ECM part numbers:
COMPUTER, ENGINE CONTROL
19000-50423
89661-60610
89666-60170
89666-60260
89666-60261
89666-60360
89666-6036084
89666-60710
89666-60711
89666-6071184

Old thread, but thought I’d add this from another thread, because it appears that it’s not quite as simple as “model year” = “part number”.

Follow up:

Early in our ownership of this vehicle, we picked up a spare ECU, from a 99 LX470 that was being parted out, to deal with the single valet key issue (w/o taking the vehicle out of service). When we swapped the ECU out, I was a bit puzzled at the ECU P/N difference, original = 89661-60610, "virginized" salvage = 89666-60170, but everything plugged up and seemed to work just fine.

On our July drive to Silverton Colorado, once we hit the mountains, we quickly figured out that the "OD off" was not working as expected. The switch and dash light worked as expected, but the transmission did not.

Wondering if it could be the ECU P/N difference, or if the salvage ECU might be a little less than perfect, I shipped the original ECU to @Mauser to get it "virginized". Once the original 89661-60610 ECU was re-installed the O/D is back to working as expected.

(Our 99 LX has a 10/98 date of manufacture)

@jLB you have to click "What this Fits", then it will tell you that 60170 was not compatible with year 1998:

The vehicle in question is a 1999 model year (10/98 production). Notice that 1999 appears in both of your “what it fits”. The purchase was made from a salvage vehicle as a “1999 LX470 ECU”, without a part number. Fortunately I do also have a 2000 LC, that uses the same (later production) part number ECU.

I was offering my experience to prevent others from making the same mistake.

Thanks anyway.

(I take it that you skipped past the attachments that I included above)

I wonder which ECU P/N was used for 04/99-06/99 production?

Thanks, sorry for missing your good intentions. I read your attachments but what I forgot to clarify was that you're right sometimes ToyotaParts show compatible when it isn't, but it can also be the reverse. ToyotaParts was showing not compatible for some Middle Eastern parts for my fuel tank and related hoses, but they were ok. Guess the only way to tell is after you fit the parts and test it...

Anyhow, for your original thread, since the TCM is embedded in the ECU, if they are
compatible then it could also be bad ECU. I've read in ClubLexus that they fix transmission jerking by sending the ECU to SIA.

The later ECU appeared to work just fine, other than the “OD disable” function. In the flatlands of Texas, that’s not a huge deal, but in the mountains of Colorado it was instantly noticeable. We did the trip a year later, with the correct ECU, and it was much more pleasant.

Another thing that we noticed after the fact, our 2000 LC OD switch seems to be “momentary”, while the 1999 LX OD switch seems to have two distinct positions.

Hi @Mauser I found the ECU ECM Part Numbers with the Production Years in this site >> ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM[ (0208-0505) ] TOYOTA LAND CRUISER [UZJ100] (EUROPE) - https://toyota.7zap.com/en/eu/land+cruiser/791450/uzj100l-gnaeka/4/8404/844898a/#89661 . I took screenshots in case the website goes down. Hopefully this is useful for everyone hunting ECUs, guessing for my case the 1998-2002 Non-VVTI ECUs will closely match as they are also showing compatible on parts.toyota.com with VIN check.

Hi everyone,
This is my first post, and I decided to make it in this section.

Some time ago, I got tired of searching for ECU photos all over the place (Google didn’t always help quickly find images among tons of junk), so I decided to create a photo database.

StockECU.com - ECU - https://stockecu.com/

You can try searching on my website and find a picture of your ECU by part number.
Some photos are still missing — they’re like unicorns!

I’d really appreciate it if anyone could contribute by uploading pictures of their ECUs.
Hopefully, this database will be useful to someone.
