Hey Mud, got an interesting situation. 2001 LC 213k miles.

It was unusually cold for my area today. About 9 degrees. Truck started up after cranking for a bit but otherwise no issue there. Let it warm for a few mins then I realized I didn't have the heat set to windshield defrost. When I set it and the fan started to spin up, the engine cut out. No codes.

Tried it again and the same thing happened. The engine was almost warmed up during this whole ordeal. A quick Google search said it might be a dying blower motor or a bad fuel pump (???). My blower motor is some random aftermarket one that sounds like death.

Didn't get a lot of time to troubleshoot because I was running late for work but it should still be cold enough when I get home to try again. Any thoughts or things to check?

Also check the battery voltage before you turn on the blower. What about if you turn on the headlights?

I'll give those both a try when I get home. It has warmed to the mid 20s which hasn't given me issue before so I might not be able to recreate it. If I can recreate the issue I'll measure the voltage, and try it without the blower motor plugged in.

Hopefully I can just chalk this up to oddities in the "unusual" cold (for my areas, I know it's nothing for the Colorado folks) which happens for less than a week out of the year.

Of course I couldnt re-create it, but it has warmed up significantly. Could it have been that the battery was frozen through and couldnt keep up? Its looks to be 3 years old and is a lower mid tier battery (die hard silver).

I dont think I'll be able to test this again until it gets colder so I'll go back and edit the first post for archival purposes and to avoid an unnecessary bump if things change.
