In my search to clean my injectors found some products to clean injectors, remove carbon deposits, and help restore the optimal performance.

I found some products like 3M http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/...us_aad_3_0/command_AbcPageHandler/output_html

How much beter do shop cleaners do over parts store cleaners?

I uses SeaFoam, Toyota FI Cleaner and BG44k (when I can find it).
How often should the motor be decarboned?

I usually use the BG 44K every 10K. BTW, I have heard that the toyota cleaner is so strong that it MUST be run through rapidly almost all in one session like a long road trip. I have heard that the stuff can attack fuel lines if left sitting for too long. I have never used the 3M stuff although I imagine it is good like all their offerings are. As far as the store bought stuff, in my opinion, they are not anywhere near as effective or near as safe as the 44K. Now Techron is in my opinion another good alternative and it is one that the Mercedes Benz clubs endorse with enthusiasm but in general I stay away from the STP sorta stuff and the sorta stuff that has those flashy names like " a shot a gas " and so on; I think those are just generic juice made out of thinned out oil. The 44K, and to a lesser extent the Techron has additives designed to bond with and soften the deposits and safely strip them off the innards of the fuel system. HTH.

Every couple thousand miles I dump in a bottle of the Techron just for PM. I catch it on sale and buy 2 or 3 at a time and keep them around.
