Well I have a couple of 3B's with 5 speeds sitting around and I know that one of them is the 3B-II (or at least it should be as it is in a 1986 BJ70)

My question is more about the second one. I picked it up with the intent to do a diesel swap on my FJ40 and was hoping to determine if it is a 5 bearing or 3 bearing cam.

I looked on the side of then engine block and the code was: 11411-58030.

I understand that the code 11411-58040 is the 5 bearing cam for sure but I wasn't able to find anything with search that definitively says which cam I have in this 3B.

Trying to decide which 3B+5speed to put into my 40!

Im driving right by on early Sunday , With yotas tech stream info and EPC on my mobile.

Pm me an area , to stop while im on route.
around 09:30 , just B4 Church .

I also have a few, bunch of 3Bs .

I thought the switch to 5 bearings came about when they became 13B-T's? And I thought the only difference with a 3B II was the appearance of a rotary injection pump? Please fill in the gap of my knowledge if you know different.

Always nice to know more about these things.

My Sept 1984 BJ60 is a 5 bearing 3B.

3B's were made with both 3 bearing and 5 bearing cams... switch was around 1985...

according to my searching the casting numbers for 5 bearing are : 11411-48040

Correct , as with the block I saw.It was 81-84 from that #30 and also the oil piston cooling squirters from the outside behind the fuel pump look different.
Since I seem to have both, and i found that out after the fact.

Hi guys,
Don’t mean to hijack this thread.
But I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a 1975 BJ40. I currently live in Costa Rica.
My current motor is a B motor that the previous owner turbo’ed.
Motor probably came from a truck and had crazy mileage on it.
Long story short, I need a new motor.
We found a (what I’m told) 3B from a 1989 70s series Landcruiser with descent mileage.
Could be another year.
The casting code is: 11411-58040
I’ve been looking but cannot find anything with that casting code.
I’m new here and to the Toyota BJ40 world.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hope I’m in the right thread 🥹

Thx in advance
