Hello Mudders, I have a situation I would appreciate the help of those who know with.
I have a brown 1983 FJ60 I bought some months ago with a bad engine, it has a chunk out of the block due to coolant being added while it was hot. That's the story I was told at the time and I have no reason to believe otherwise. He parked it at the time and always planned to get it back on the road someday, it hasn't had anything done to it. From the same person at the same time I bought a silver 1985 FJ60 with the engine removed and a different stuck engine to go with it. This engine turned out to have rust and water damage inside. I since have bought a tan 1982 that has a fairly rusty body but a good drive train that I drive regularly. I have no idea what the mileage is since the odometer stopped at 157,000.
I want to get the brown one running since it is the best condition and has the least miles on it and I like it best, and I want to do it as inexpensively as possible. My preference is to find a good engine that I can hear run or be able to trust the word of someone who guarantees it to be good. Second choice is to rebuild the rusty engine but that will be rather costly due to the machine work needed. Another option is to use the engine in my tan driver and junk the body but that goes against the grain and probably won't happen. I have no interest in using a non-Toyota engine and can't see that changing. I am in western Kentucky and would drive a bit to pick up an engine should anyone have a good one. I would appreciate the advice of anyone who has a good idea or any other advice. Sorry for the long post, I will attach a picture of the 3 trucks lined up for a photo. Thanks.

Whats the point of keeping the rusty tan landcruiser on the road when you have a decent body on the brown needing an engine?
I would make one good cruiser out of what I had, then strip the rest for parts, keeping what I need and selling the rest.

Yep... I don't see the logic in hunting down another motorwhen you have one already. If you must, a decent 2F pops up in the classifieds fairly often and can be had for around $700-ish... or a 12HT would be sweet. :hmm:
