Elocker wiring with Switchpros or other switch with integrated relays?

I'm installing front and rear elockers and am going to hook them to my Switchpros instead of using the switches that come with them.

The Switchpros itself has integrated relays. The Eatons come with a harness with their own relays.

Do I:
  • Keep the Eaton relays, and just use the Switchpros as a trigger.
    • Same as you would with a plain old switch.
  • Use the integrated relay within the Switchpros instead of the Eaton relays.
    • Just wire the locker's 12v trigger wire direct to the Switchpros output.
    • Completely eliminating the Eaton relays.

It'd be a lot cleaner of an install if I can eliminate the Eaton relay and associated harness.

I can't see why eliminating the Eaton relays would be a problem, but want to make sure I'm not missing something. Better safe than sorry before I go cutting up a harness that would be costly to replace.

What did you do with yours?

I'm taking off the relays and going direct to the switchpros. Thanks, @TeCKis300

Simplifications like this is where the SwitchPros earns its keep.

I originally thought the SwitchPros was too expensive for 'just' a switching solution. The amount of refinement and integration it provides would be hard to replicate. All in a tiny package.

Can you tell me how you ended up wiring your lockers?? I’m fixing to do the same install and have the same questions you did.
Any good details would be great! Thanks

Second this! Would love to see a simple write-up. I'm using the Garmin PowerSwitch, but same concept and I have everything wired up per the eLocker instructions, but have the yellow/redstripe switch wire going to the Garmin for triggering. Really need to simplify and eliminate all the unnecessary wiring. I assume I could just take the power and ground directly from the locker, with the power going to the Garmin and the ground to the chassis?

I cut off everything and wired them direct to my switchpros. Black wire to my ground bus and white wire to the output of a switchpros switch.

^Agreed, it's as simple as that. Like wiring a light. Elocker doesn't even care about polarity IIRC.

my Auburn elocker does care about polarity, but I don’t think it’s widely installed.

If your shop left the wiring to you, like mine did to me, you can hear the solenoid in the locker when it’s hooked up properly if you get down by the pumpkin.

Yes, that simple. Worked great, no issues, works every time.

You're replacing the external relay in the Eaton harness with one built into the switchpros.
Nice! So essentially, you cut the 2 wires connected to the diff pre relay and those 2 wires straight to switch pros. Freaking awesome. $300 wiring fee saved 🙏🙌

Snip snip.
