I seriously had this idea for a while, but just thought i didn't have enough money or backing to tell the right people about it without getting ripped off. Or, it's allready been talked about for some time

Research Frontiers Inc.

Imagine being able to flip a switch or turn a knob and after driving in the sun all day, turn your windows from tinted to clear.

LXextreme, jump on this and let us know. :bounce2:

I installed this system on a corprate jet a couple of years back and it wasnt quite ready for prime time then.

But it was cool as hell when it did work.

And just when you are in the best part, making up with your girlfriend , the windows get clear when a lot of elementary kids are walking in front of your cruiser :grinpimp:

I believe that in it's natural state the window is tinted and the charge makes it go clear.

So if you wanted to put on a "making up" show with your g/f and the system failed, then there'd be no show for the on lookers b/c the windows would go dark

Mercedes Benz has already put this stuff in passenger cars. The Maybach sedans (made by MB) have this stuff as the sunroof panel/roof panel really cool, No idea on the long term viability of it but great technology

my company had this stuff installed at our corporate HQ and spent a chitload of money doing so. I also saw this in a bar in NYC where the doors to the bathroom stalls had it. When you closed and latched the door it turned smoke white.

I know ambulance windows have had this for a few years now, flip a switch and they go from clear to opaque.

Yeah, our latest ambulance got these on all the windows in the box. One-touch and you've got privacy from all the gapers perched on the back step.

It is done with liquid chrystal as far as I know. I had the idea 25 years ago, soon after calculaters came out with the LC displays. But, like you, I didn't know where to take it.
I also had an idea for a car that would run on creek water by distilling hydrogen 25 years ago, Mercedes built one 10 years ago.
I had a design for the auto-shifting bicycle when I was in 6th grade. We saw that one hit the market and flop in 1985.
I also quit smoking pot 20 years ago. My ambition went up while my creative side went down, or maybe I just didn't have enough money to use on lost causes!
Amoung the above three, I would have to give the electric window tint a chance for success. It looks a bit filmy when in the clear, but it can be totally opaque with the twist of a switch. That is good for sun block. It is a good idea in the right place.

All I have to say is poor peeping toms...:D
