HI, for a while now my ignition lights have been flickering every now and then at idle speed whilst driving along the bumpy driveway to the property. Two weeks ago the I noticed the amp gauge drop suddenly and then a few days later it stayed low only coming up to normal charge after ten minutes of driving. Yesterday the ignition lights did not come on when starting. The car starts and runs. The fuel, amp gauge, brake warning light all work but not the charge lights not fuel warning lights. Anyone who has experienced similar please share.
Thanks

It very much sounds like your alternator is on its way out, secondarily - there's also a "charge light relay" that might be a bit dicky.

the ignition lights come on the first time I try to start and after that they're off so a faulty relay sounds quite logical - I've had a good look for the relay but unable to identify it - do you know exactly which relay it is?

BJ60.. but unlikely to be particularly different.

You should also consider a dicky fusible link.. they sometimes fail in an intermittent state.. these are located near the positive terminal on your battery.

Solution - I pulled the alternator off and had it bench tested. Turned out it was done it had two faults - not reporting it was not charging and it was not charging - replaced unit with OEM. Had to drill mounting brackets slightly larger (1mm to be exact) to fit slightly different unit. A few days later the old oil hose snapped due to it being the same one for 38 years - luckily I was at the property when it let go. If you have to do this I suggest getting a custom hose made that is about 50mm longer than original.
