Electric Steering Column adjuster - wont go up or down

I just bought a 2005 100 series amazon that looks like this

The steering column goes in and out with the buttons, but when i try and go up and down it just makes a strange whine, but no movement

Does anyone have any idea of the fix for this? i.e. fixable or do i need a whole new unit?

You might start with looking at this thread from the forum FAQs. It's for the telescoping motor but it may give you some ideas on what to look for with the tilt motor.
