I swapped out the electric hubs on my 77 a few years ago and used the old hubs to make the spacer plate. The shaft from the electric hub though has 22 splines and I have only been able to find cheap hubs that fit the 22 splines. I am in Mongolia so supply of part is limited. I can get genuine Aisin hubs here but they have 30 splines. What does it take to change the 22 spline shaft to a 30 spline shaft that will fit the Aisin hubs?

Geobaerg,

It is good to see a fellow mudder from Mongolia (I assume you are native mongolian). Interestingly, I happen to own a 1992 HZJ77 myself too :).
I had the same problem with my power locking hubs and I also used the old electric hub body cut on a lathe to make a spacer. But the spacer and studs didn't hold up to abuse and they all sheared off leaving me stranded:mad:. So spacer thing in my opinion is not the best solution for manual conversion. I know one vendor here sells good spacers that may work but I haven't tried them so can't comment. Have you done the conversion by yourself? If you didn't then the person who did the work had changed your birfields with the ones with 22 splines. Maybe in order to fit hubs with 22 splines /80 series maybe?/ The originals have 30 splines /at least mine did/. Where did you find genuine Aisin hubs with 30 splines in UB? I ended up buying them from Oz. I may be able to help you with the best conversion solution but it will quite expensive. My number is 93096035 if want to discuss in person.

btw, your english is good;)

Count me in also. Are you guys expats? I used to own a Kz powered prado. Never had problems with my hubs. There were some videos on youtube about manual conversions.

Hi Davaa, I am actually from Canada but have been living here for a while. I agree about the spacer issue, I just destroyed another hub and sheared off two studs. I am heading to Canada next week and will discuss the problem with some of my friends. I will let you know what I find out and I might call you when I get back in June. Thanks for replying.

Hi Geobaerg,

If you don't want to go spacer route again. Bring couple of these from Canada. I think finding them would not hard there. Here is a borrowed pic.

You need 2 of these shown on the right. 60 series wheel bearing hubs. You will need spindles as well, but they can be sourced locally. Used ones are 120.000 tug at parts shops. Spindles are same with early hilux and 4runners.

Also you need the 30 spline burfields and aisin hubs. Cheap chinese locking hubs are junk.
