Electric Hubs Brush Spring Material

Hello, I have an extra busted electric hub with broken electric springs. The U shaped metal part in this pic is broken.

what material/thickess can i use to form a shape like this and attach a brush to?

I am not sure about the material but went to a shop which sells ready made carbon bushes & also sells custom built by cutting the carbon rods as per dimensions.
Talked about it & showed him the Motor hub.
He gave me a 0.3-0.5 mm thick copper strip & told to cut according to requirement.
About material he said, it is the same stuff which is used in electric door bells push button which have flexibility as a spring.
BTW Pl see my thread titled 1KZJ71 hub lock problem.
I am doing the modification to replace this un-reliable mechanism as advised by experienced people
