Has anyone installed electric brake drums on their CDN M101? I think I am going to look into it just to help the little BJ42 out in braking but was wondering if anyone else has done and if available in toyota 6 lug pattern?

I've had it done and PO of my M101CDN had converted to the Yota pattern and installed 80 series rims. Dexter has both 5 and 6 lug pattern electric hubs in the correct size for these trailers.

I lost the hande brake as a result tho.

Dexter site did show an electric brake hub option w/hand brake but the shop I had do the work tried and tried to contact Dexter tech support without success to get the specifics on that hub to see if it'd work with the hand brake on the M101CDN.

IIRC it ran about $400 for the complete install (parts and labor), including break away switch and battery (law in the PRK for the break away switch - trailer does not weight enough to have brakes required on the trailer - 1500 lbs here anyway). Well worth it as the brakes on the 80 series are also not the heftiest engineered item on an otherwise great truck. I'd do it again. Purists would disagree with me, especially not having the hand brake any longer - I now use wheel chocks. The hubs with the hand brake option were much more expensive tho too!

awesome thanks.. My trailer full with RTT on it is im sure around 1500lbs so just thought it would help the Cruiser a bit.

I am very happy I did the brakes on mine Roberto. I'd do it again if I had a similar opportunity.
