On the way to work the other day my 86 fj60 had a strange elegtrical malfunction which i am having trouble understanding. I may need to get a wiring diagram to figure out the problem but some one out there may have experienced this and save me the trouble........ driving to work ,early morning , eng starts fine ,lights on , drive away, 5miles into the drive i notice that the dash lights are out and the heater blower motor will not run and the volt meter is reading 10 vdc . while weighing my options and continuing to drive the dash lights come on and the heater blower comes on and the charging system returns to normal... checked the battery for loose connnections, checked fuse block for same , any suggestions

I'm not the electrical guy, but it seems to me all of that is fuses, so you could have a power to the fuse block problem???

I think you may have a bad voltage regulator. When the voltage drops too low, some electrical items just won't work. 10 volts is low enough that I'm not surprised the fan/etc didn't work.

Failing VR's often work intermittently, before they fail completely.

Most chain parts stores will do a free electrical system test (battery, alternator, VR). I suggest you do this just to narrow down the possibilities.

update

Same deal going to work no heater motor, no dash lights, no dome light, no tail lights, no marker lights, volt meter showing 10 volts,(did not notice other gauges or check wiper motor), headlights burning bright, blinkers work, flashers work, I was hoping that it would stay broken so I could fix it. alas The problem vanished before I could get it to the shop were my VOM meter lives. The meter is riding shotgun with me from now on . I checked the fusibul links for loose connections. But everything looked good there . I do not have a factory wiring schematic and was wondering if someone does ...... do all of the items that I mentioned that did not function have a common + buss point? I know that all of those items have different chassis grounds and I have a solid ground to the alt. and have inspected all of my obvious grounds under the hood.....

I don't know about the 60, but on the 62 all of what you have problems with are on the same circut. The lights and flashers are on a diffrent wire. I am still trying to find the ground for that wire and look for shorts. It is the white wire that comes off the four wire connector on the positive side on my 62.

Upon closer inspection of the fusibul link ,I discovered on the load side evidence of high resistance and heat on the white large gauge wire termination . After doctoring this up I was surprized to see the improvement of the operation of the heater blower motor and maintain 14 v while the accessories are running(wiper , heater blower, marker lights). I will document my permanent fix when I get the parts .
