Mark,
I'm heading in right after work, so I should be down there right around. 345!!! (Carson city)
You can ride w/ me if you want!!

Lemme know.

Keith

OK great. Thinking of a better place to meet. Why don't I be in front of Lowes at 3:45. It is right on fairview, the road that the freeway dumps you onto when going south. Then we can jump right back on 395 south to Markleville. Don't rush I can wait til you get there.

See you in a bit!!

It was an interesting meeting, actually more of a seminar than a meeting. Basically there were a few NFS personnel there explaining what the status of the 42 trails closed by court order is.
The Readers Digest Version:
All of the trails will retain their designation as OHV routes, with two exceptions. Both exceptions are short sections on trails I've never even heard of.

Long version;
The NFS went back and completed the SG100 portion of their study on all 42 trails and the trails remain designated OHV routes. The judge closed the trails because these studies was not completed. What SG100 does is look at the areas where trails cross meadows and determine the impact the trail has on the hydrology of the meadow. In some cases the areas shown as meadows were not in fact meadows, in others the roads were shown crossing meadows when they actually did not. In some cases the NFS determined that the impact was low enough that the benefits of the trail outweighed the impact the trail had. This was done at the discretion of the Eldorado National Forest Supervisor and the decision will stand unless there is another court action. I get the feeling that the NFS supervisor wants to keep designated trail open so people can actually get out and see stuff.

I agree w/ rusty. I had the impression that the FS (at least the ones there) like people being able to recreate there.
They were very informed and willing to speak w/ you.
Lester, one of the FS staff) has actually been monitoring the forms to gauge the communities interest. They want people involved!!
It was a good experience for me.
Glad I went!!

Suggestions and Comments

One of the things they were asking for at the shindig was comments and suggestions from the public.
I just went through the papers and stuff I took home and couldn't find the address or email to send my comments in.
Maybe Mark or Keith has that information and could post it?

Thanks,
Dan

I think it's in the link I posted of the first page.
That will direct you to the EDFS page. It's in there.
