yet another newbie question.
I did a search for this and found nothing. ---so here goes.

I have an sbc in a 72 pig - took my rear interior panels off while following some wires. I ran across 2 large evaporative emissions cannisters - knowing that the F motor is no longer present - can I remove these - they seem to be connected to the gas tank. I have a chassis manual but didn't purchase the manual for the motor .
they really don't matter - but I want to make some compartments out of that space. plan on making powder coated steel panels for back there as it is a cargo space.

one of these years I will post some pics of my truck.

those are actually expansion tanks. nothing wrong removeing them if you plug the lines or cap the bungs. nothing wrong with keepin'em right there either,,,,

hmm

aha - maybe I will remove one and keep the other. something you're not telling me? :o

thanks

now why would i with hold info?? i tell you what i know, i would leav'em unless you need the space for something, but plenty have been removed.

They really are not that necessary and will not smell up your cab if you cap everything right and keep lines out of the cab. But the lines are there for a reason and should not be capped.

However, I installed a tank meant to be with expansion/vapor recovery tanks and capped the lines. My tank would overpressurize and I couldn't fill it up all the way at the gas station. Put in one chamber. Two are not needed, but an expansion chamber and a way to route to a charcoal filter is. You could run T's in the lines to connect all of it into one chamber, leaving one side free. The driver's side has the fuel filler neck in there anyways, so use that. I use the other side in mine as a storage compartment for all of the oils, fluids, and stuff that I wouldn't want spilling on the floorboard. Nice and no one knows it is there behind the panel (with a hinge)
