Hey guys. I am going to be in Emerald isle over Easter and will be fishing off shore. So, who wants to come? I am coming into town on Thursday night. Thus, Saturday is the optimal fishing day, however, Friday and Monday are available too. There is a VERY outside chance my mom will let me leave Easter morning, but it is all dependent upon weather and sea state.

We will be fishing around 40-50 miles offshore, and targeting wahoo, blackfin tuna and gaffer dolphin. This means about 100- 130 gallons of fuel burn. Add oil, bait and ice and the cost to be divided accordingly. I will provide all tackle and hardware.

The boat is a 30 Ft Grady White powered with twin 300 Yamaha outboards and we use Shimano Tiagra and TLD reels. We can comfortably take up to six. All are welcome!! The boat is in Atlantic beach and we fish out of Beaufort Inlet. I will start a list so far of who is on board.

1- Parker Morris
2- Charles Morris (My dad)
3- Adam Leidy (Ball of Meat)
4- Adam's Plus one
5- Ryan Niles (Tank would be preferred, but Ryan will do)
6-
7-(only if it is super flat calm, which is highly unlikely this time of year)

Bump to anyone in the mood? Good times!

I'll give it a go next go round. Likely going to be with family Easter weekend.

Hoping for tight lines for you guys.

I don't know what are your qualifications? There is also an application that needs to be filled out.
I can fix anything, and drink anything... Enough said?

parker, dont tempt me, tank loves boats... haha

Hopefully you will have good weather. There have been lots of reports of MONSTER Wahoo lurking around lately.

Sadly, Easter fishing is a no go. For one, the seas will be brutal this weekend. 5-7, 6-8 or 8- 10 foot seas depending on the day. Also, the ride will be in the shop for another week due to extra stages needed in repair/ restoration. Thus, Poseidon gives this no chance! i will put together another trip as soon as i can get down, and hopefully we will get some good weather. Sorry and thanks for those who are up for next time.

we shall make beer happen! Also, if the wind is right, i will be doing some surf fishing as well. There is always Smoke Meat in Havelock at night too. Quite a gal.

She is finally together

The new motors are on and through their break in period along with
new throttles
gauge cluster
bow pulpit
through hull fittings
steering system
fuel system
bilge and live well pumps
VHF and Antenna
Depth finder
Depth Sounder
all new wiring throughout
batteries and battery cables
reconditioned props
and new piping for the hard top

It has been a long spring, but we are finally there

I will be going down Friday and be down there for a week. We will be fishing the calm days for those that want to join!

That is a PRETTY sight there my friend. I have a wedding in Blowing Rock this weekend, otherwise I would love to come join you for a day in the stream. Hope y'all slay 'em!!

Going to Hatteras today but will be coming back Sat or Sun. No deep sea fishing this year; with a wedding coming up the $$$ is limited. If your going by ferry, stop by on your way down for a  We are 100 yards from the Hatteras community center. PM me if you can stop by! I want to surf fish, so what do you recommend for bait this time of year? Good luck on your catch!

Kenny,

Unfortunately, i do very little surf fishing, maybe just a time or two a year during the winter. Thus, i am not the person to ask. I am sure there is someone on here who can send you in the right direction though. However, they last couple times i have done it, i have caught a slot sized redfish on a large gulp shrimp on the bottom both times. I would certainly seek further advice though.

Tell me about your new electronics... debating a Garmin 740s, but not sure I want to spend that kind of money considering how little salt water my boat actually sees.

For a "depth finder" we have a Garmin Eco 300c installed right next to the steering wheel. it is a small, color unit, but is very accurate, has big numbers, and is 300 watts. This is mainly used inshore in skinny water. But it can read up to 500 ft of water and mark fish and bait. For our fishing sounder, we actually had our sitex unit refurbished. This unit is a commercial sounder from the late 90s, and there is very little on the market that can match its power and accuracy without spending an inordinate amount of money. It is 2000 watts and can mark fish and bait in a couple thousand feet of water. It is a non lcd screen, but is a 10 inch screen, color and is very very accurate. its main drawback is it is huge. Like a little old school TV. It is too powerful for water under 20 feet as the sounder just bounces off the bottom then bottom of the boat and gives a blank screen. For chart plotter we have a 12 inch Garmin, i cannot remember the model number, but it is very good, and easy to use. We run two data chips in it. A navigation/chart chip and a bathymetric chart for detailed bottom and structure mapping. For VHF we have 2 Standard Horizon DSC GX 1150 VHFs, one old, and one brand new. As far as garmin, their stuff is phenomenal. i would highly recommend it. I have a good friend who runs and 80 footer that tows a 36 yellowfin and he will use nothing but garmin. Everyone can be brand loyal, but i feel they are far better than the newer raymarine stuff out there. Pictured is the 300 C. It is a very good little unit, at a good cost, and super simple to use. Sorry if that got long winded. . .

EDIT: i should add, if you are not spending a lot of time fishing or navigating inland, slat water areas. The 740 is WAY over kill. Don't get me wrong. they are super cool. But i would get something smaller, less expensive, and put that money in something else fun in the boat. Just depends on $$$ though.
