In my relatively limited R134 experience, the #1 improvement mod is a better performing condenser. Is there a larger and/or more efficient replacement available for the '80?
 
So yours is an early '93? If so, and all you did was replace o-rings and refrigerant, that was a rookie move that will be biting you in the ass soon enough.

R-12 requires mineral oil.

R-134A requires PAG oil.

They are not compatible.

Hmmm...haven't been called a rookie in a few years:meh:

FYI, Toyota spec's the same oil (ND-8) in all of their swash plate type compressors.
 
R134 = move as much air as possible across the biggest condenser possible.

Sure wish I could get 26f vent air in my two after market r134 systems. Best I've ever seen was the high 30s on a nice balmy sub 100f ambient day.
