Does an FJ60 use weights? Can I re-curve my dizzy? I recurved a dizzy way back in the day on an old Ford Fairlane I had. I would start at factory idle, add 200 rpm, check timing, add another 200 rpm, check timing and so on until advance stopped around 3200 rpm (v8 however on the ford).

Same principle apply?

PS. - Will a "dented" side-cover bolt onto my old F?

Yes the side cover will fit.

If you don't want to swap it out, find a dizzy and ignitor from a late model (79-80) FJ40. It is small cap and will fit just fine. It has the same internals as the FJ60 system, but does use bushings instead of bearings to spin on.

Yes the FJ60 uses weights, but I have no idea if they are static and you change springs to re-curve, or if you change out the weights... :D
