Early rear axle upgrade (1 Viewer)

I have never dug into my diff, but am wondering if my '67's rear axle housing & carrier is same as the later ones. I'm wondering if I can put late model fine spline spiders and axles in w/o problems. I'm going to 4wdiscs and thot I'd upgrade the whole shebang while I had it apart. I've got a '73 front axle now.

I have heard that this can be done, I have not ever done it.

I do not see why it would not work.

Thanks, Steve, for the welcome and the advice. I haven't been able to find any reason that it wouldn't, either.
This is a great forum - I'm getting some great info. I'll probably be making more posts in the coming weeks - I'm picking up my F motor pieces from the machine shop tomorrow, and hoping to have it ticking again by spring.
