Like the title says....

I believe the early ones have some markings on them like bJxxx (where the xxx are numbers.

Preferably tan but i'll take whatever color as long as the hinge moves freely and is not frozen

(mine were take off, chromed, then a bolt used to secure the 2 pieces as a hinge, which has a ton of play.)

I have a bucket full of them, I'll check tomorrow if I have TAN ones. Thanks, John Pardi Camino, Calif.

John, were you able to dig anything up:confused:

Sorry I don't have an early harness for you.. :frown:

Like these

One hinge pin broke off in the middle, could probably be drilled out and fixed, and the other somehow got tossed in the powdercoat bin so it's white.

Sounds like somebody has some better pairs for ya, but if you get desperate these could be salvaged.

Wes, Most all of the early hinges I have have 5/16 bolts through them, I do have a Tan set with one stock and one with a bolt. $30.00 shipped or trade for something. HISTORY my first cruiser was a 1965 FJ40 I bought in 1974, the hood hinges were toast after only 9 years, I bored out both hinges and put in new pins, braised one end. On one hinge I tapped a hole to put a retaining screw. Without that screw it was very easy to take your hood off, and the hood would shift to the side and the hinges will separate while wheeling. I might repair and renew the ones I have and make the pin a little longer so both ends can be peened to retain them. This is why they changed to 3 ear hinges. John

Ok. Thanks John, I have a set of 3 ear so maybe I'll blast them and put them on. I just really want to keep this one super original.

I'll still keep an eye out for a set...

Wes, I have a pair of two-ear hood hinges on my cruiser right now that are what you are looking for. If you are not in a hurry, I am switching out for some 3 ear hinges. You can have them for the postage, but you'll have to wait until I remove them. I also have thre-ear cast and thre-ear stamped.

That's awesome Ed. Let me know if and when you remove them. I have a hard time remembering things after a few weeks  I'm not in a hurry
