I did a SM 465 swap last summer and am finally working on getting the e-brake hooked back up, but the cable is now a couple of inches short. I have read, either here or on pirate, that BTB sells a longer cable. I talked to someone at BTB this evening and they said the cable they sell is something like 68" long  and is for a 40, but my original is like 44". Will a cable for a 40 even work?

Anybody running one of these cables?

Will a stock 40 cable work, since it should be closer to the length I need?

Anyone done this swap before have a solution?

I dont see why that really long cable wouldnt work. You just need to hide the slack somewhere I guess. What about a generic cable from like advance or somewhere?

It's not a question of length really, it's weather or not a 40 cable will work for a 55. From the diagram in my Haynes manual, the cable appears to be slightly different.
I didn't even think about checking for a generic cable at a parts store, but i'll give it a shot.

If you can, measure your cable. I have a couple that are 48" long. If you only need a couple inches then these might work. $5 for the used one, $15 for the brand new?

not sure about 40 to 55...i originally didn't think they'd work until i realized that the hook up just looks different...i'm betting it will work. adjustment and hook up are in engine compartment vs the 40 having adjustment where it goes through the firewall and hookup under the dash.
