I’m getting a lot of dust coming into my cruiser, everything is covered with a fine film of dust. I’ve checked under the rear carpet and sealed the old bolt holes from where I’ve removed the rear seats.
Are there some other common areas where dust gets in?

That’s not a commonly reported issue. I wonder if the HVAC cabin filter compartment is stuck open in the FRESH position. If the broken mechanism that plagues left hand drive 200 series vehicles also affects right hand drive vehicles, you might want to put the system in RECIRC and check operation of the change door. If it’s stuck in the FRESH position, some dust may get around the filter?

Is it from the cargo area?

If so:
There are rear vents, so when you close the doors the air goes out those vents.
They are listed in the thread about going through deep water and sealing the cargo area.
If you pull off the rear quart panel skins you will see them.
You can probably make them dust proof sticking some cutouts from a home AC re-usable filter in there.

I will check as dust seems worse in the cargo area.

Strange. I just spent the week driving endless gravel and dirt roads (maybe 800 miles worth). Every inch of the outside of my LC is covered in caked-on dirt and dust. Zero inside. My 60 and 100 leaked dust like crazy but my 200 is very well sealed.

It may also be worth checking the various grommets to see if they are intact? For MY2021 there is one inside the engine bay (straight back from the battery on the firewall). There is also one on the passenger side rear quarter panel behind the plastic bumper that you can also access via the small door in the rear cargo area. There might be others I only know these ones because I used them

I don’t think it’s the main culprit, but there is a grommet where the wiring goes to the trailer plug that is not sealed nicely around the hole the auto electrician made.

I will check as it seems dust is right through the air ducts in the cabin, even the heater duct behind the plastic panel in the cargo area is all dusty inside

I can’t seem to find the panels that let the air out when you close the doors. It’s been mentioned that they are behind the plastic panels in the cargo but I can’t see any. Mine is a 2016 facelift model.

I can’t seem to find these vents. I have the plastic panels off. Mine is a 2016 facelift model

The filter for the AC that is kind of in the glove box is in place correct?

and the comment from the other member which said " I wonder if the HVAC cabin filter compartment is stuck open in the FRESH position."
Did you try that? That is also a good idea.

The holes someone mentioned are farther forward kind of under the step beside seat 2nd row, and it doesn't look like you have dust there in the pic posted. The other ones are visible and do not show dust coming in from them.

From what dust I see looks like the rear vents. (just my guess)
As for the vents, the outer skin that covers the rear quarter panels on the outside just pops off.
You need to first undo some screws by the rear wheel well then maybe the rear trail light loosen it? Then the skin just pulls off starting at the wheel well.
There were some pieces of black plastic covering the vents. This outside area is where I was thinking you could put in some kind of filter.
I have not had them off since I installed my rear bumper.
Maybe look at the threads on installing the rear bumpers where you need to cut the skin it will show the vent?

There is also dust around the fuel filler on the right side. Could be a 2nd entry point?

So a quick question, is your vehicle a 2016, or is it a prior year with a 2016 front clip replacement?

I have a 2016 LC200 Sahara, but the part is 2008-2021

If you have an aftermarket bumper it will likely be behind the bumper.

You get at them from the "outside".

this is the vent
