I plan on being in back behind all the cabins and setting up a tent Pat...see ya there.

I am just leaving work now and wont be able to leave tomorrow until after 5pm if lucky...plus I have a report due by Monday morning now for our Vice President...so I wont be going to Durhamtown this weekend unfortunately.

Wanted to post this as soon as possible instead of after I get home tonight and have a few beers to calm this raging headache I got from meetings all day! :(

Whomever is going to be at Durhamtown early afternoon please send your cell phone by PM to some of those coming in case they get lost or cant find camp site.

I apologize for having to back out but my easy week has turned into pure hell and looks to be that way for Saturday as well. Have fun and take lots of pictures...

So far-

1. BMT Hiker and Kat
2. Brock
3. Dbenke
4. Mylene and Thomas(Pitbull Cruiser)
5. Pat (Maglight)
6. Scott Shelly (GreenSeaMan)

Who is going to be there when? Is anyone going to be there Friday night?

Rick, Mylene and you should be there at minimum Friday night...maybe scott shelley. dbenke will be there saturday and maybe a couple others from UC. One might be there from ONSC on Friday night if he does not have anything come up.

you guys have fun....maglight, mylene and thomas, and BMTHiker will be there today as well.

That sux that you can't make it Brock. We'll be there, but not 'til tomorrow AM. Kitty is "over" the cold weather and we both have to work until 5 today. We'll pack up tonight and MAYBE camp tomorrow night, depending on how windy it is. Still looking forward to exploring a new-to-me park.
Anyone who gets there early and needs something from "A-town" let me know before the end of the day and I'll try to accommodate.

Anyone know what could be the source of a bunch of petrolium based stuff on the drivers side bottom of my skids? Got to washin' the truck and noticed something that smells like oil or grease and water runs off of it like it is a petro based substance. I made it all the way home no issues but now I am worried about driving. If the area where the driver side front axle comes out leeks lube can I safely drive in two wheel drive?

only thing I can think of is the CV boot area where grease could come out....if it is not torn it could be oil or grease that was left on trail by someone else going through the same area and it splashed up on yours....no noises, clunking, funny feeling when driving? If it is not a torn boot or anything from your engine bay area like a loose oil filter, oil cap, etc.....then should be okay. Just check your fluids and inspect the front drivers axle area.

Just had the CV boots and axles replaced two weeks ago. I had a shudder the whole ride back when I was at about 57-63 mph, but I had a tone of clay on my wheels and I am pretty sure they were "wobbly" from the odd amounts of clay. I think is if fluid from the diff from the spot where the axle goes into the housing. My biggest worry is driving it.

am sure the shudder was the mud...when I left that place it vibrated like a whores play toy until I sprayed the s*** out of the wheels and calipers at a car wash outside of town just to get home.....

clean it up good and spray some brake cleaner up there and check diff level...just keep it topped up until you can get it checked better.

Dude,
You missed a good time. It was a whole new place. they had a guy in a truck who brought wood to the site and then he kept coming around to see if we needed anything. It was like a hotel. the trails were clayier.

I would bet it is a c/v boot. all the attemts to get over that last hill...something got up in there and tore it.

We all had a good time. thanks to all that came.

I decided to take off Sat. night so I could get some stuff done at the house Sunday, but just outside of Columbia. I lost a fan belt. Was almost on red by the time I got to the side of the road. Called a friend of mine in Cola and stayed there overnight and got it running and on the road by 11:30

I think it's time to replace all the belts and hoses I've been talking about since I (we) got it a little over a year ago.

HAMOM in March!!!
hope to see you there (Doc's maybe??)

would I have made it all the way home with a torn boot?
I am going to look right now under there see if I can see anything.

Yeah, it will last for a while w/ a torn boot, depending on conditions. (which were really bad)
The front shouldn't have been turning on the way home. Aren't FJC's part time 4WD?

It is part time 4wd on the auto. So the front shouldn't spin and I should be ok driving in 2wd?
The pics are of the area where the axle leaves the differential. I pulled on the CV boot and it didn't seem to have any tears in it, actually still looks new, but I noticed the axle moved into the housing like there may be a seal missing or something. Is that possible?

I just checked the other side and it looks and moves in a similar fashion.

It will move a little, must have a seal leaking. Clean it up first, they may not have replaced the seals when they replaced the axles. Would be worth a call in the AM. Not a hard job. You should be OK to drive in 2WD, but check the fluid level anyway.
Could have gotten a little mud between the axle and seal also (you think???)If thats all, cleaned it could stop leaking. (I've seen it happen)
