Looks like an alternate location as forecast has a week of rain prior to run in Durhamtown...on top of what they have had the past month. Previous experience shows that your fun will diminish in that red slippery clay if that is the case and does not dry out.

will let you know soon.

Alternate location will be sent via e-mail or PM.
Would love to let everyone know where we wheel, but it seems when everyone knows, they get closed!!:crybaby::crybaby::bang::bang:

Weather is better at Durhamtown so expect the notification to be week prior to ensure we have the best location selected.

As of today the rain is gone week prior at Durhamtown and sunny in 50s. Just have to keep watching.

i am hoping it as well...so far it looks like a winner...think we will make the call on Monday and spread the word.

Hello fellas,
I am an ONSC member and was wandering if I could come out and wheel and camp out with you guys. I have a few days off from work and I am itching to go wheeling. Our next club outing isnt until next month though.

I would be down for DT or other location.

thanks

just check back here on monday night or tuesday morning for GPS coordinates and description of where we are meeting as it is dependent on how much rain the red clay of north georgia has received the week prior. LOL

I may have a friend coming with me. He's a little rough around the edges... I hope he behaves himself and doesn't get me kicked out the club. He has kinda a weird sense of humor. kinda dirty. He'll probably be kinda shy around everybody hopefully.

DURHAMTOWN is a GO! Weather is sunny and in 50s all week...they will have 7 days of sunshine before the next rain is due on Saturday night...and then it is only a light sprinkling.

Post above has directions, maps, etc...... Camping is to left back behind lodge.

SEE YA THERE!

**Wish me luck on my rig getting back together**

manifold and gasket on....freeze plugs installed....valve cover gasket installed....oil cooler crush washers and o-rings installed....new hoses installed....idler pulley and egr block off plate installed....egr valve plugged on one end...other end to pcv....carb installed.

Going to hook up vacuum lines today and air cleaner and see if she starts. LOL

She is purring like a kitten...everything seems tight and did a test drive...then checked again for leaks or anything else.

I noticed right away the roughness of motor went away...idles smooth at 700-750 rpms (by the tach) with no shaking of motor like before. Acceleration is smooth up through rpm range where as before it felt like a flat spot around 2500-2700rpms and took good bit of skinny pedal to get it over 3000 rpms. Damn thing spins right up now. No pinging....just noisy valves as were running out of time so decided to do the valves our next Hamom or some other time since they need to be done when engine is at operating temperature.

I was more worried about all the vacuum lines left that we needed to hook up and making sure nothing was forgotten.

So unless something catastrophic happens that is about everything known or that could be found that I fixed this last time.

Filled up gas tank tonight and will be interested to see if it helped performance and smoothness only or if my MPG will also get better. So unless something comes loose tomorrow while driving to work and about town I should be in Durhamtown.

Thanks for looking over my shoulder Glenn to make sure I was doing things right.

1. Radiator Hoses
2. Hose to oil cooler
3. Oil cooler crush washers and O-Rings
4. Removed air (smog) pump
5. Installed idler pulley in its place
6. Removed all Emissions gear except what was needed...took off EGR, HAC, BVSV, etc.
7. Blocked off two ports on air cleaner and 4-5 on carb..cant remember
8. Blocked off two manifold vacuum ports on Gas Valve, used third one for another item we kept.
9. Replaced manifold gasket
10.Replaced valve cover gasket
11.Replaced center freeze plug on block
12.Replaced plug on upper manifold under carb
13.Blocked off egr port on manifold exhaust
14.Blocked off return hose to CAT; will be removed all together in future
15.Blocked off pipe from EGR valve to where smog pump was

I am sure there was more but cant remember.....Unless my job cancels my plans I hope to be up there early afternoon and camping. The last time Dbenke and I camped in far rear to right of campground....if he gets there first I am sure he will go back there again as it drained well and was wide open.

See ya there...whoever shows up!

So far-

1. BMT Hiker and Kat
2. Brock
3. Dbenke
4. Mylene and Thomas(Pitbull Cruiser)
5. Pat (Maglight)
6. Scott Shelly (GreenSeaMan)

not sure about Marshall, BillW, JamesR, ProInv, etc. I also think the guy from ONSC is going to join us and I put an invite on their forum that they are welcome to camp and wheel with us if they show up. ought to be fun....

I will be out there lat 1800-ish on friday. is everyone going primitive(tent camping)? Same area as last year, in the back past all the cabins?

Looks like I will be working all day on Friday, so I will leave here about 4:00 on Sat morning. I should be there before you start wheeling.
