Thanks, I will call the shop tomorrow.

Guys, we had a great time! Too bad we had a catastrophic failure with the 4runner in Aynor and had to drive the LC. We still had a good time. Hopefully I can find a 22re and get it back on the road soon. Still don't know what I did to it. I'll have to look into it. Thanks to all that came and rode with us. Brock you missed a great time. Thanks David for letting me and Corey ride with you. He had a blast. It was good to see everybody. I'll have to post some pics if I can.

Pat, the front axles still rotate with the wheels in 2WD. However the front drive shaft and differential ring and pinion are not engaged when in 2WD. My guess is that all that clay has eaten the differential output seal. In the pictures you posted its right where the cv axle enters the diff. In which case you will want to address very soon. The seal itself is only $5-6, but you need to pull the CV axle out, which will take a few hours of your day and a fair bit of grunting (gotta drain the diff fluid, remove the brake caliper, remove bottom attachment points of the steering spindle). All doable, but can be messy. Make sure you have the new seal (or two) and diff fluid on hand before attempting.

Another possible location of the leak is your front differential itself. The clamshell design is bolted together with 12mm bolts and these tend to work loose over time, especially because A-Trac causes asymmetrical vibrations in the front diff. Pull your front skid off and retorque all that you can get to. The one on the very top is impossible to put a wrench on without removing the steering rack. You'll need a goose neck wrench to get to the other two near the top of the assembly. But its the bottom ones that will likely be loose and they are easy to get to.

Pictures coming soon...

some samples...not 10 minutes into our ride and we get a feel for how this day was going to be.

Right off the bat, I had to winch my self out of a mucky, knee-deep mess. I was trotting back up the trail to assist Pat and proved that it was exactly knee-deep in a spot that looked "solid". Enjoy...only shame is I didn't have the camera running when I sank up to my knee and almost tossed the camera into another county.

Benke got himself so stuck that we had to strap Pat's rig to a tree and use a snatch block. Benke said he was just following me, but I don't think so. His wheels weren't even touching the bottom. We all looked like slot car racers at this place. Once your wheels got in the ruts, there was no fighting it.

We found the Grand Canyon and rolled into it with no brakes ...wheeeee! I didn't want to risk getting sideways, so I just put it in second gear, rolled over the edge and let gravity do its thang.

Me and Thomas were tree huggers on this day... well, more like tree yankers, trying to keep Pat's rig from getting the Dig-Dug signature look (which, by the way, became ever more enhanced after a run-in with another tree).

By the far the funniest moment is when Benke almost made it up this slippery ramp. Remember I said "almost"...ha-ha-haaaaaa!

first, here is our cockpit view almost going up and just stopping short of the level spot on top.

then Benke's attempt. (For what its worth, no one made it without bypassing or winching, but not for lack of trying :D...he-he-he Pat knows what his rev limiter sounds like now.)

damn i twas wet and slippery last year.....but you would think after a week of no rain and bright sunshine that would have dried out...guess that Georgia clay holds the water much longer than the rest of the earth. LOL

Hopefully everyone had a good time still.....

Last year we had the terraced downhill trail that you would slide down and hope you stopped before next part....and Pat was up against a tree last year too we got pics of on a side trail with logs across it. The hardest we encountered was last trail where a small hill that was man made with a hole before it was causing everyone problems...took over an hour to get 3 of us over...it is one where my rig is high centered almost and covered in red clay. LOL

Still wish I was there....even with the mud. Did Mylene chicken out and ride with Thomas in the 4Runner or something? :D

My "almost making it" felt like hitting a brick wall...I've got to modify my Cow catcher

Ron, Mylene rode with Thomas in his Forerunner...Couldn't get Scott to get his 80 dirty either...

That same hole was where Pat was determined to get over...alomst made it to the top a couple of times.

But the slot car comparison was about right. At one time, I traveled about 100 yards with no hands, down a hill and around 2 corners

I was pretty impressed going up that one hill that Thomas took (left side) right before lunch...I wanted to go down and do it again, but thought that might be pushing it.

We'll definatly have to go back, but it needs to be dry for a month first.

Missed out again

Well there is always next time, however I'm getting to an age that there may not be a next time. Anywho great photos and I'll just enjoy via photos for now. David thanks for the ride offer and again I am soo sad that events interfeared with the plan. Doc:cheers:

looks like you guys had a good time and sorry we missed it. If I recall correctly from a month or so back someone said it would be a little sloppy.

Looks like we're going next month if you guys want another run at it. We might make a plan B if it rains 2 days before we go though.

UC is planning on going to the Gulches with ONSC next month.:steer:

I'd have second thoughts about Durhamtown unless it has not rained in at least 2 wks. We had a whole week of dry weather and it still looked like this. That red clay just holds water forever.:bang:

I almost got kicked out of the car wash today
