Time to choose my paint. Doing some research in faq and seen how popular durabak bedliner was. Did some research on their website and found out they also had smooth. Would like to know if anyone has used this and the out come. Pics, comments and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.:beer:

Jim,
I've never used the smooth, but I did use the textured on my 40. Good product and it took me 1/2 gallon to do the complete tub, tranny hump and steps.

I had them send me some samples. But not sure if the product will lay out like on the samples. It was real bubbly not smooth at all.

I have heard that it is best to use the rough then top it with smooth. The rough by itself is really hard on the old skin if you have to lay on the floor to work under the dash. It also collects dirt and dust. Be sure to spray it, which ever product you use. Don't forget a respirator, gloves and a pair of long sleeve overalls. That stuff sticks. Prep is the key and spray it away from everything you don't want Durabak on..

durabak over por15

I already painted with por 15 and chassis coat and was planning to top that with the por-15 primer and a single stage poly.

Having seen the durabak now I like it --anyone ever put it over por 15 or over the topcoat por primer. POR is a rubberized poly so I think it should work---dont relish the idea of undoing all the work but I do like the look of the durabak

I am going to use the smooth

I have the smooth , and I am going to put it over my ruff stuff but I do have some smooth spots I am going to do. Ill let you know how it goes.. Plus Im putting sand over yellow so lets hope it works.

Earthtiger how soon do you plan to spray. I am beginning to lean towards Acrylic Enamel again. There have been so few replies. It looks like a very good product. But I am very unsure about how it will lay down. :hhmm:

I've been looking at doing my 80, there are some pictures in the 60 and the 80 forums of bedliner'd rigs, many of them Durabak.

I painted the exterior of my last 40 with a coat of Durabak rough (rolled and brushed on) then immediately followed that up with a gallon of Durabak smooth (sprayed on) In my opinion it turned out great - got lots of compliments. Only thing - don't use white! Looked great when clean but was a serious pain to SCRUB clean after a weekend of wheelin. I have since sold the truck to a buddy and he put a top coat of cheap white aoutomotive paint over the Durabak. Looks new again and is holding up well.
