Hello everyone!

So I think I heard Long ago that I could run 2 Rear Main seals on a LN106 to Prevent oil leaks! Has anyone done this? Suggestion? How do you get the first seal further in? Is this a good idea?!

Currently swapping the G52 Trans to a W56, also changing the Clutch as well and wanted to fix one of the oil leaks that I have and preferably not touch it for the next 10 years LOL

Here are some pictures from my 3L rebuild last year on my LN106. I think you probably could, it looks like there is clearance for two seals. It doesn't look like it would cause any problems. That being said, I wouldn't do this.

Is it possible to sleeve the end of the crank from under the truck?

Another thought, maybe take out the aluminum seal housing, measure the diameter and crank diameter, see if you could order a seal with a slightly tighter inner diameter.

Check the catalog of Musashi seals...

Doubling up seals sounds supremely ghetto. would not try this. if you install a brand new seal and its still leaking, it was either installed incorrectly or you have some other issue going on

@Miloslavich is correct, a new seal should not leak. I assumed in this case you were talking about a wear mark on the crank which can happen in super high mileage engines. Small worn "line" on crank which allows some leakage.

Unless you see this, install a new seal and don't worry about it. Remember to put the seal in the freezer overnight and also pack some good quality grease behind the seal.

I use amsoil multipurpose.

Seconding what @GreenPump is saying here, and to further elaborate packing the grease in the seal behind the lip helps hold the spring in place which can come out of the seal during install, freezing it obviously makes it contract and go in place easier.

Only other thing i'd add is a little secret a lot of guys do is put a very- i mean very thin trace of Aerobic gasket maker around the outside edge of the seal, this acts as a lubricant allowing it to slide into place easier, and dries leak proof in the absence of oxygen. Its better than an RTV bc if you were to go a little too thick and put too much on, allowing any into the block and it were to get into the oil, it just washes away unlike an RTV which can harden and clock up oil journey ways and galleys

Thanks Y'all, I replaced the Seal (with just one) and didn't see any gouging. The motor only has 240 Kilometers... Seems to have reduced my Oil Leaks significantly. @GreenPump Thanks for the Part Numbers. I couldn't find a Genuine Toyota Seal that I could get quick enough, but got a reputable aftermarket one that fingers crossed wont leak for a few years.

@Miloslavich, I agree that double seals sounded Ghetto, LOL. I think I saw this suggestion from an Australian FB group, but I couldn't find more info on it.

Still have a small leak from somewhere so I will be looking for that leak... I am hoping that this will be they year for a little snail add on to the little Lux!
