SO ever since I have lifted my lx470 I have had these weird drieline vibrations. I have replaced the U-Joints on both driveshafts and the vibration is still there but it has gotten better. I crawled underneath the car recently when I was changing my radiator out I noticed that my front diff bushing was bad and would move back and forth while shifting. Could this be the cause of the vibration or could it be something else?

I've heard that bad diff bushings could cause driveline vibration. Mine was driving smooth a few months ago, and now I'm getting a similar vibration. The thing that did increase at the same time was the clunk from R to D, so I'm replacing the bushings very soon. They need it anyway, and I'm hoping it takes care of the vibration as well.

The other thing I'm doing at the same time is installing a diff drop. Somewhere on here, I read someone saying that they had increased vibration after a lift, and they mentioned that this was a fix. It seems a little hard to believe since the diff drop doesn't change the angles much, but I'll report back on my findings after the installs.

Yeah I've got a diff drop from Dobinsons installed on mine as well and it helped a little bit.

Welcome to the club. Been my nightmare for the last year or so.

Doing front diff bushings next. Feel like i've ruled everything out at the point i'm at.. short of getting a different Land Cruiser...

Oh s*** you follow me on Instagram lol. But yeah I don't wanna get rid of this car and go back to the f150 I was driving. This thing is too nice

I feel you. I bought a "daily" BMW X5 diesel for the gas mileage and I straight prefer to drive the Land Cruiser anyways.

Yeah I gave the truck to my little sister when I bought this thing last year. It runs a hell of a lot better than that 8 year old Ford but this vibration drives my bat s*** since I drive from East to central Texas quite a few times a month

Yeah it's slowly driving me crazy. It got worse when I installed the bull bar bumper. Now I get the satisfaction of watching it shake every time I hit 75. Feels like a scene out of Back to the Future LOL.

Depends on what sort of vibration it is. Wobbly, very low frequency (highway frequency would be 10ish hz, inaudible) - usually wheels/tires/something AFTER the differential. Higher pitched/buzzy (like 50 hz), usually driveshaft/pinion angle/etc.

I've fought with this a lot over the last couple years and for me, it's definitely a pinion angle thing. When you lift the truck, you change the resting driveline angles, and they have a pretty narrow range where you'll get vibration-free operation.

Mine was resolved when the foreman of my america's tire store balanced my new G/015's with the Hunter Elite Balancer. 3 technicians before him didn't get it right.
There's a thread around mentioning these cruisers are a little tough to balance. Before the job there's driveline vibration and the steering wheel shakes between 70-75MPH.

Or it could be either of what you mentioned.

This isn’t felt through the steering or brakes of the car. More felt through the frame or so.

My felt-through-the-frame vibrations were largely addressed by new control arm bushings front and rear.

Had same problem, replace diff bushing and got little better but not gone. Replace cv axles not oem changed vibration but still there. Replaces with oem cv axles and vibration is gone
