Can I drive without my bell cranks? Any issues driving without them? They are frozen and I want to take them apart and fix them.

the only problem is that you'll have no e-brake. Once they are frozen I usually buy all new parts and replace the bellcrank, pivot mount, inner cable and all the pins and clips. On assembly I pack everything with white lithium. I did my 80 150,000 miles ago and it's still working fine.

Well I want to take them apart and take them to work and sand blast the parts. Figuring I could salvage them. Would that be a waste? Going new better?

I've done the pull'em out and fix'em deal on the bell cranks in my FJ60. They're now frozen back up again and I used them regularly. I've got better ones in the spare parts pile but if you don't I'd recommend new also.

Did you sand blast all the rust off? Also If I get new parts won't it freeze up again just the same? I need to fix this before the FG or I will fail inspection and get booted.

Inspection? What inspection?

Just do what I do: show up late, then jump in the end of the line.

Seriously, e-brakes are a good idea.

I now always go with new because I fought this problem on my FJ60 and new finally got the job done. The trick is the white lithium. Literally pack the rubber boot with the stiff, it keeps things lubed and crap out.

You can't sandblast some of the rust off. On the FJ60 bellcranks there is a rectangular steel tube inside the aluminum bellcrank casting. When that steel tube starts to rust between the aluminum and steel the steel gets pushed into the moving parts jamming up the works. Last time I went through them I ground the crank thinner and filed the bellcrank casting out for clearance. Then I lubed everything up and reassembled. I'm sure that at least one is rusted stuck again...
