I have a road trip to Moab next week and my 2016 has recently started acting up.

sometimes on start up the 4lo and center diff lock will start flashing Most times shutting it off and turning it back on will make it go away. One time I had to warm it up, drive up to 25mph, put it in nuetral, shut it off, put it in park and start it to make it go away.

I read the thread about it and understand it is due to not using 4lo and center diff lock often or could just be an electrical gremlin, but wasn’t sure if driving with the lights on would cause any long term issues. I can usually get them to go away, but am worried if they come on during my cross country trip and become stubborn.

I'm not an expert, but I believe if you're able to move, you're in the clear.

I think the light comes on from the sensor or actuator not being sure where it is... meaning the sensor is not sure if you're in hi range or low range.

There was a thread with a picture of the inner workings on here somewhere.

Strange my 4lo light was flashing every so often. Could not figure it out. I plugged it up to techstream to check for codes. It had the brake light switch code. Rather strange I erased it. Week later it started flashing again. Read code with my little reader. Same code. Mind you the engine light never flashed once on the dash. Changed the switch problem solved. In a nut shell it could be something totally unrelated then the system that's flashing lights. Good luck figuring it out.

Definitely check the codes and report back. I had a similar issue that turned out to be a rodent chewed through a wire related to the emissions system. Loose gas cap can also throw a code that flashed 4Lo and Center Diff flash. Could be a lot of things, but without a code its hard to know. At a minimum check your gas cap.

Do you ever exercise 4lo or the diff lock? If not, find some low traction surface and use both after a good warm-up. Maybe that will settle the actuators if that's part of the problem.
